Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck surgery, or abdominoplasty, can give you the toned and firm abdominal contour you desire. Individuals of all backgrounds may struggle to combat the effects of genetics, weight changes, and pregnancy that lead to excess fat, sagging skin, and poor muscle tone in the abdomen. Dr. Ip can perform tummy tuck surgery to provide you with a dramatically more attractive and defined waistline.

Is Tummy Tuck Surgery Right for You?

Tummy tuck surgery can help men and women who have reached and maintained their goal weight achieve a more defined and toned abdominal contour. Some candidates for abdominoplasty have substantial skin laxity after major weight loss or pregnancy, including folds of skin that are unsightly, uncomfortable, and unhygienic. Others have noticeable skin laxity due to aging. Individuals who go through pregnancy and/or weight loss may have weakened abdominal muscles that require surgical correction to eliminate a perpetual tummy pooch. Many simply have stubborn lower belly fat that resists dieting and exercise. If any of these things sound familiar, tummy tuck surgery can treat sagging skin, excess fat, and loose stomach muscles to give you a slim, toned, firm, and youthful abdominal contour.

Recovery

After tummy tuck surgery, patients will experience bruising and swelling in the treated areas. Patients should rest at home for several days and take all antibiotics, muscle relaxants, and pain medications according to instructions and recommendations to prevent infection and discomfort during recovery. A compression garment will be provided to minimize any excess swelling and improve the results. To minimize side effects due to the use of general anesthesia, it may be best to eat only soft foods for a short period after the procedure. After that, patients should carefully observe a diet of proteins, healthy fats, fruits, and vegetables to provide the body with essential vitamins and nutrients for healthy healing. Most patients can return to work within two weeks, though exercise should be postponed for four to six weeks. Smoking should be avoided for at least six weeks. Patients can experience the safest recovery and best results by carefully following all postoperative instructions provided by Dr. Ip.

Results

Tummy tuck surgery will leave you with a firmer, slimmer, and more defined abdominal profile. The striking results of the procedure become more pronounced as swelling subsides and can last for many years. You can preserve the quality of your results long term by maintaining a stable weight and continuing a healthy lifestyle.
